St Johns Medical Centre

Prescriptions

To arrange a prescription, please complete a prescription request form here, or call in to St Johns reception. Alternatively please contact our prescription services by fax or via the “on-line” services request form, the details are shown below.

Fax:  0161 929 8550

Post:  please enclose a stamped address envelope

Please see “Contact Us, and “On Line Services” link – if you haven’t already registered for “on-line” services, you may need to contact our Administration Team at the practice.

We are unable to take prescription requests via the telephone; this policy is in place to avoid the risk of error.

The high volume of prescriptions produced on a daily basis is such that we are unable to routinely contact patients to let them know their prescription is ready. We aim to process prescriptions within 3 working days (72 hours) of receipt of request from patients &/or pharmacies and would ask for collection to be arranged after that time.

Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on regular medication have their treatment prescribed on repeat prescription. When you are getting low with your medicines please bring or send your repeat medication list to St Johns indicating which treatments you require. Alternatively you can contact your pharmacist if you have a regular arrangement – please indicate the name of the pharmacy on your request if you prefer your prescription to be collected – please place your prescription request with your pharmacy at least a week in advance to allow time for it to be processed.

Other Prescriptions

If you require an item which is not on your regular repeat prescription but which has been prescribed previously, please complete a prescription request form here, or fax or call in to the surgery to place it by hand.

Hospital Prescriptions

If you have attended outpatients or have recently been a hospital inpatient you may be advised to have new medication. The hospital will provide you with a written prescription advice sheet which should be brought or sent to St Johns to enable any new medication not already on your normal repeat prescription to be added.
