Appointments can be booked via our surgery telephone system between 08.00 and 18.30, Monday to Friday, selecting call option 1. Our phone lines can become very busy during peak times and we would ask that, where possible, any non urgent phone calls are made after 10am each morning.
We have an easy-to-use auto check-in facility at reception which enables patients to check in for their appointments directly on arrival at the surgery and helps to reduce waiting time during busy periods.
If you need to cancel an appointment, please try to give at least 48 hours notice to enable the appointment to be used by another patient. Please call the surgery and select call option 3 to leave an answerphone message, or use our on-line appointments service.
On-line appointments service – a new system has been introduced in conjunction with our new computer system;
As we are aware, alot of patients registered with our “on-line services” in the past which was used in conjunction with our previous computer system. Since updating our computer system to a new system in November 2014, unfortunately we now have to ask that patients re-register with the practice for “on-line services”. In order to do this, please can patients come into the surgery and provide the following details to the Receptionist :-
COPY OF IDENTITY – Passport or Photo Driving Licence and PROOF OF ADDRESS – Utility Bill (dated within the last 3 months)
Once the above have been provided, the Receptionist will then print out a letter detailing how to register with the new “on-line service”. The website address will appear on your letter in order for you to start your registration process, this is: https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/
Once you have registered for “on-line services”, you will then be able to book & cancel routine GP appointments using the on-line service. Emergency same day treatment, nursing, specialist clinic & travel appointments are not on-line.

St Johns is a group practice so patients can see any of the six GP partners based on the next available appointment time throughout the practice. Patients preferring to see a specific GP may have to arrange appointments further in advance to ensure availability. Routine appointments can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance and we also offer a limited number of 48 hour appointments for patients who need to be seen quickly.
Urgent same day appointments
For patients who need to be seen urgently, same day appointments are available with the duty doctor, or with our nurse practitioner who is able to diagnose and prescribe. Appointment requests may be triaged for priority and assessment of appropriate treatment.
Evening appointments are available each day from Monday to Thursday for patients who find it difficult to come to the surgery during our normal opening hours. In addition, one evening each week the surgery offers late appointments until 8pm. The day will vary each week; please check with the patient services team for the details.
The St Johns practice nursing team delivers a wide range of services and specialist clinics (please check under Nursing Team Services for the details). Appointments may be booked up to 8 weeks in advance.
Home visits are bookable on the day for patients who are housebound or who are too unwell to attend the surgery for an appointment. Where possible, please request a home visit before 11.30am. All home visits will be triaged by the doctor before attending, so please assist us by providing as much information as possible when calling.
