Doctors

There are 6 doctors at St Johns Medical Centre working together as GP principals in a Group Partnership. We also have 5 salaried doctors and as a training practice we also have GP registrars [GPs in training].

 

 Dr Lorna McCune: BSc MBBS MRCGP DRCOG

Dr McCune qualified from Barts and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2003 and completed her GP training in the South East.  Dr McCune lives locally with her family and enjoys all aspects of General Practice.  Dr McCune is one of the current Trainers for St Johns, responsible for helping junior doctors become fully qualified GP’s.

Dr McCune currently consults with patients on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Dr Debbie Marsh:  MB ChB MRCGP DRCOG DFFP

Debbie Marsh qualified from Leeds University in 1989. She is married to a local GP and has two children. Debbie has been with St Johns since 1995 and her special interests include women’s and child health, and minor surgery.

Dr Marsh currently consults with patients on Monday and Wednesday


Dr Marik Sangha: MB ChB MRCGP

Dr Sangha lives locally and is married with 3 young children. He qualified from Manchester University in 1992 and took up a post at St Johns in 2000. He is the lead GP for Undergraduate teaching of medical students and is a GP Appraiser.

Dr Sangha currently consults with patients on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

 

 Dr Nigel Lord: MB ChB MRCGP MEWI PG Cert in GP Education

Dr Lord qualified from Sheffield University in 1991. He returned to his home town & took up his post as a GP at St Johns in 1999. He is married with 3 children.  Dr Lord has a special interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine and Joint Injections.  He is a former Educational Supervisor and GP Trainer to Doctors in training to become General Practitioners but has relinquished this role to become Managing Partner at St Johns.  When not at St Johns, he works as a GP Expert Witness.

Dr Lord currently sees patients on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

 

Dr Tom Earnshaw:   MB ChB DRCOG MRCGP

Dr Earnshaw trained in Sheffield and qualified in 1998. He undertook his GP training in Sheffield before moving to Altrincham where he joined St Johns in 2006.  Dr Earnshaw has a particular interest in joint injections and is involved with the education of undergraduate and postgraduate doctors.

Dr Christopher Pughe : MB ChB DRCOG

Dr Pugh grew up in Chester and trained at Manchester Medical School,
qualifying in 1995.  He has recently moved back to the North-West after working as a GP in

Stoke-on-Trent for the last 12 years. He is married with three children.

Dr Susan Andrea Mottram: MB ChB MRCGP

Dr Mottram graduated from Liverpool University in 1991. She has worked in a variety a GP roles across the region for almost 20 years before joining St John’s as a salaried GP in September 2014. She enjoys all aspects of clinical work in general practice as well as her involvement in the teaching of medical students. She has also recently taken on a new role as a GP Appraiser. She is married to a fellow GP and has 3 children.

Dr Mottram currently consults with patients on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings

 

Dr Fiona Sloan: BMBS MRCGP DFSRH PG Cert in GP Education

Dr Sloan grew up in Cheadle Hulme and trained at the University of Nottingham qualifying in 2004 and completed her GP training in East Yorkshire.  She recently returned to the North West with her husband and daughter.  Her specialist interests include women’s health and minor surgery.

Dr Judah Eastwell: MA (Cantab) MBBs MRCGP

Dr Eastwell graduated from King’s College London in 2009, working in the Surrey area before following his wife (a teacher at AGSB) to Altrincham in 2011. His medical interests include elderly and palliative medicine, while outside of work he enjoys cooking, running and DIY.

Dr Alka Gupta:  MB ChB BSC MRCGP DFFP DRCOG

Dr Gupta qualified from Manchester University in 2007. She is married with 3 children and lives locally.  She joined St Johns as a salaried GP in 2016. She enjoys all aspects of general practice with special interest in women and child’s health.

 Dr Amy Phillips: MBBS  MRCGP

Dr Phillips joined St Johns Medical Centre in February 2018 after previously providing GP Locum services at the Practice.
