When patients bring samples (urine or other) to St Johns Medical Centre, we do ask that they are dropped off before 12.30pm, Monday-Friday, so that they reach the laboratory that day.

Our laboratory collection takes place between 1.00pm-1.15pm on Monday-Friday.

We do ask that NO SAMPLES are to be handed into the surgery after 12.30pmĀ  on a FRIDAY.

When you come to the surgery, please follow the instructions below:

For Urine Samples-

  • The collection point is in the foyer by the table
  • Please complete one of the “Urine Sample Forms”
  • Please ensure your full name, date of birth, type of specimen, date and time are filled out on the bottle – this is very important
  • Please ensure that the lid on the bottle is fully secure
  • Please place the form and sample bottle into one of the plastic bags and then place all into the “Nurse Samples Only” bin

For any other Samples-

  • Please see the Receptionist who will ask you if the doctor has asked for the sample and check whether a form has been completed by the doctor
  • The Receptionist will then take the sample from the patient
